The museum mainly houses a collection of 20th century contemporary works of art, featuring the work of writers noted for their connection to Yokohama, the work of surrealists as well as a photograph collection.

You can tour inside the Nippon-Maru, once called "Swan of the Pacific", and enjoy a feel of those days. A museum of harbors and ships, the "Yokohama Maritime Museum" is also a must.
