Danny Boy

We have never had a chance to visit a port town while our Grandpa was alive.

Although my father was wont to say we should go to there.

And today, there are nothing but only memories I ought to look for at there.
But, I have a desire for coming back to the port town
and someday I want to live in there once again before I die.

Bring back the old days in the summer sun

Danny Boy

But if ye come and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an Ave there for me.

And I shall hear, though soft, your tread above me
And all my grave shall warmer, sweeter be
For you will bend and tell me that you love me
And I will sleep in peace until you come to me.

But you know what ? in some way, my mom love cemetery !
It's a bit wicked, but she said it's the place where always remind her how lucky we are to be alive and love. Enjoy the day while you can. Nothing last long forever.

I'm glad to hear your mom don't mind it. Unexpectedly, it was a touching sight for me to find their national flag or floral tribute on graves. I felt their love.

  3. A beautiful cemetery in you photos. It looks like there is a nice view of the city from there--a good place for contemplation and renewing memories. Even a sweet kitty to keep you company. I like that song as well. My mother was often asked to sing it at funerals.

    1. Leenie, Thank you !
It's the place called "Foreigner's Cemetery" on the hill near by Yokohama harbor. I'm glad to hear you love the song. I see it's a special song, but I love it. I wonder why it's not so popular in Japan.

Old song might take us back to the good old days.

  5. Anzu-san, you made me nostalgic! I thought about ancestors who I never met, though I regularly pay a visit to the grave. I like to walk up the slopes to have a view and come down overlooking the sea. Thank you for this post.
